Wendell Black (1919-1972) has been called “the finest pure engraver this country has ever produced” and ranked among the ten finest artist-engravers ever worldwide, yet his work is little known, since he chose to work as a teacher and shunned the commercial spotlight.
The purpose of this website is to bring to light the extraordinary work of Wendell (Bud) Black, in memory and tribute to his wife and life companion, Elaine N. Black (1921 to 2001).
